Professional, Personalized Heat Pump Installation
A heat pump is similar to an air conditioner. The main difference is a reversing valve that allows the refrigeration process to occur in the other direction. That means that a heat pump can provide cooling in summer and heating in winter. There are two main options for heat pump installation. Central systems require ductwork; mini-split systems do not.
A common question is whether a heat pump can meet your heating needs all winter. The answer in our service areas is yes. Even the most basic air-source heat pumps are suitable for this region. Many heat pumps do have cold-weather thresholds at which they’re not as efficient. That said, it rarely gets cold enough in Florida for such a limit to be a factor.
Professional sizing is an important step in any heat pump replacement. A heat pump that’s too big or small will cost more to operate. It will also be more prone to repairs and likely have a shorter lifespan. Installers accurately size these systems through load calculations.
You should also consider energy efficiency. The industry uses SEER to measure cooling efficiency and HSPF to measure heating efficiency. The higher these numbers, the more efficient the heat pump. Is it worth paying more for a high-efficiency heat pump? It is if the long-term savings will be greater than the added initial investment.
